To be honest, I'm still not sure what gothic metal is. You could probably teach me about that.

Re: Gothic metal with female vocals
Well I see it as anything that has a combination of heaviness and a somber, dark mood and tone, with clean and growling vocals basically, but maybe also female vocals or keyboards and/or choral elements added, usually more intelligent and poetic lyrically,of course in the end it seems to be a matter of opinion LOL ,and IMO I would add mid period Paradise Lost,Novembers Doom and Daylight Dies to the list of what I have heard and consider Gothic metal, what I like it is the comb. of heaviness, vocals, and lyrics.....l

I do enjoy some old Paradise Lost. Haven't listened to it in quite some time though.

Absolutely love the Lost guitar tone, one of the best around IMO.Was fortunate enough to have met Nick Holmes and be part of an interview done with the mag I co-created,it was never printed due to the mags demise.Seen them play in Dallas.AWESOME show, total energy defined, just flawless.

Haha, anything with the word.."draconian" reminds me of the "dragonlance" fantasy series of books.

Their music is actually pretty simplistic to me. But simplistic in a good way.

Re: Gothic metal with female vocals
i dont know but: http://www.ava-inferi.com/
Ava Inferi have female vocals, like opera! And the guitarplayer are Rune Erikssen from Mayhem. (well not now, he have quit Mayhem)
Its some doom feeling in some of the songs.

Re: Gothic metal with female vocals
I am so totally bummed that no one here mentioned Lacrimosa or Stormgarde...shame!
I don't know if I'm a very good judge of metal-y music, but some newer lovelies I discovered and liked are Shadowplay, Pearls of Dew and Kristen Lawrence.
