Daecaunt

I just got their album in the mail this week, and finally got the chance to give it a listen; I must say that listening to the whole album as a story is infinitly better than just skimming through or listening to just the few tracks they've listed on their Myspace.
This story is wonderfully ominous and mystical with just a bit of lingering and hopeful optimism for the future.
I do feel like at times the female vocals, provided by Felicyika, can get a bit shrill and other times a bit flat, but overall it is fantastic music.
If any of you are fans of Daemonia Nymphe, Unto Ashes, Arcana, Dead Can Dance, et cetera..., I highly suggest checking out Daecaunt, yo!

I'm not sure what Daecaunt or Lucaifem mean, but I've seen comments on other forums that referred to him and his writings as having been influenced by Satan worship...
People can be really, really stupid.

Re: Daecaunt
I should've read this thread before posting mine about looking for bands like unto ashes, DCD .etc.
I'm wondering too what 'daecaunt' means? I noticed on their site and myspace that 'daecaunt' is actually the man's name and 'felicyika' is the female. Quite impressive that he plays all those instruments, writes, and paints. The lyrics are something else too. Did you happen to read his poems above his song list on his website? Dies irae and all hallow's eve are quite entransive.

Re: Daecaunt
I have read his poems several times each; he's/they've taken down some of the older poems and lyrics from their site, unfortunatly, but mos of them are in the album booklet thingie.
Every time I read them or listen, I see something new or different that I didn't catch before, and that sounds incredibly cheesy...music has a very strong effect on me. Yay!

Re: Daecaunt
do you know what his story is? from what I'm reading, there seems to be a mix of prophet-like mystique meeting personal reflection. the song 'lucaifem' seems to harold something, but what? then the songs 'lark and the wind' and 'death of a peasant girl' appear to be about something personal? how do you know he's christian btw

Re: Daecaunt
From what I know, no one really knows anything about him.
No one can be 100% certain whether anyone is 'Christian', but I know that this man is at least knowlegeable and influenced by the teachings of Christ.
When you listen and read his lyrics, there are some very strong and subtle references to Christian history as well as very strong imagery that is invoked in my mind...also referencing to Christian history or the Church's involvement in history as well as it's future, and the future of the world in general...I don't explain things good.
Also, he's been mentioned in a few 'alt' Christian music 'zines (print and online ones), but you never know. Whatever.

Re: Daecaunt
I sent him a message on myspace asking about his faith (he invites it on his profile). youre right. without directly saying 'christian', his beliefs are that of a follower of christ. he made a point about not being bible-based though.
other than that, he is very well mannered and modest! his grammar is like some form of either proper or old english. I'm looking forward to getting his cd in the mail.

Yes, he's Christian, although not a modern Christian. Yes, some of the songs were influenced by things he's actually experienced/seen. Yes, most people don't know anything about him. He's fairly private with his life, and more than that, he keeps pretty busy- you don't learn all those instruments by sticking around chat rooms ten hours a day. He's a good guy, just kind of quiet. Just enjoy the album already!

sounds like you know him? felicyika perhaps?
I've only been pondering because, well.. how can you read his lyrics and not? they're very profound to make an understatement. good to know he's a christian tho.

Re: Daecaunt
Though I prefer to go by as a 'follower of Christ', I also would consider myself an un-Westernized Christian...which I guess would be different than most modern Christians. That gir wrote:Yes, he's Christian, although not a modern Christian...Just enjoy the album already!
I agree ~ people need to buy that bloody album! It's honestly one of the best albums I've gotten this year.

Re: Daecaunt
Doesn't the word Lucaifem ring any bells for anyone else?? If not, then look at the symbol he uses - or the subscript Mabusthat appears when you hover your mouse over it on his homepage. Think you're all being deceived here. Correct me if you think I'm wrong?
