my hands are

bloodred by sin

stream of tears

black by regret

from a heart

brown by rot

so heed my prayer

O winters creator



you alone can make

my soul white as snow




I ripp my garmets of pride

my eyes I bow down and hide

from my head hair Ive pulled

and now I sit down appalled




instead I put on sackcloth

and roll in ashes and soot

with bitter wailing I mourn

as for the death of an only son





I Grieve

and I wail

I´ve Changed

my laughter to mourning

and my joy to gloom

myself I´ve Humbled

before the Lord

and he will lift me up




Woe to you who laugh now

Cause one day you will weep

God opposes the proud

but gives grace to the meek




Godly sorrow brings repentance

that leads to salvation

and leaves no regret

but worldly sorrow will bring death

My favorite lyrics are those that are not too "poetic"... but rather straight forward.. like these.

But I like it when it has a poetic touch of Rhymes and such. And cool words. But lyrics that is so "poetic" you can translate it into anything you want doesnt really help me alot. And I doubt it helps anyone else.

yep.. what matters in songs, in my opinion... is having enough written clarity to be powerful,, but yet not being so "clear" that you are leaving out imagination.. if you know what I mean..

I think so. Imagination is a part of art and lyrics and music is an artform.
